Trip 5: December 9th
“There are very little joys in life that compare to running through freshly fallen snow” at least that’s what my high school cross country coach would always say. Today, I’m not sure if I agree with him because I decided to drive as I adventured to my last round of parks on this challenge. I have 22 parks to run to today, all on the Northeast side. They mostly lie in a cluster of small nature areas and neighborhood parks that sit beyond the main routes I’ve grown comfortable

Trip 4: November 10th
On today’s journey, I set out to run 6 miles and visit 4 parks very familiar to me. My goal was to reflect on my college experience as I’ve run through these 4 parks since I first got to campus as a freshman. The parks are right along the border-to-border trail that runs about 42 miles long from Ann Arbor to Dexter and mostly follows alongside the Huron River. My first stop was Devonshire Park , which I wouldn’t necessarily call a park but more of a pass-through path between

Trip 3: October 22th
Trip 3: October There’s something about October that makes even the smallest parks feel poetic. The mornings are cool without being cruel, the trees are halfway through their identity crisis, and every trail feels like it’s coated with a crunchy patchwork quilt. For today’s adventure, I headed south and east to a cluster of parks I’ve visited before on runs. This little corner of the city felt like the perfect place to savor fall before the snow (and my complaining about win

Trip 2: October 5th
Today I set out to the outskirts of Ann Arbor to hit ten parks I’ve never been to (or heard of before). It was a cool fall morning, though I was a bit sad the leaves hadn’t started changing colors yet. Today I wanted to reflect on the importance of parks to communities (neighborhoods specifically) because today’s parks are mostly located in neighborhoods. I had a park down the street from me growing up and it was the most amazing thing for me to go and walk three houses down

Trip 1: September 20th
On a cool September morning, I set out to do my first visit of 11 parks in Ann Arbor. Today, I wanted to think about my own experience in parks, especially how I’ve interacted with them from my childhood to now. I pre-planned a 4-mile running route, with most of the parks concentrated in a half-mile radius, so I could spend as much time in them as possible. The air was crisp, the light golden. Burns Park was first; there were already a handful of people walking dogs, parents
