Dear Reader,

Welcome to the Empowering Eco-Feminism blog!

Throughout my studies and experiences in the world, I’ve noticed that there’s a gap between how men and women study and care about the environment. I recently researched this phenomenon known as the eco-gender gap, which shows that women are much more likely to care about and fight against climate change than men. Additionally, women are statistically more likely to be affected by climate change, yet have a smaller role in combating climate change because of systemic hierarchies in power and in government.

The goal of this blog is to empower women at the University of Michigan by giving them a space to be emotionally vulnerable and share how climate change is affecting them. Each post will feature a woman on campus, a picture of her favorite place in nature, and an interview to accompany it to show you, the reader, the effects of climate change on everyday women.
